Turbo(?) buzz at rapid spool up

After abusing my 89 9K CD turbo at Watkins Glen, I have had a buzz/vibration that can be heard outside the car when I accelerate in first or second gear. It seems to be tied to the boost level and not the RPM. At higher speeds, even though I get the same boost indication, the buzz is gone or very light.
We all may need a light buzz now and then, but I don't want my Saab to have one. Is it necessarily the turbo, or is there a vacuum thing-a-majig to look at?
