central locking fuse went

This evening my central locking and dome light stopped working and I checked and found the 15amp fuse had blown. I replaced it and that one went too. I've now put in a 20 amp and everything is working but I was concerned whether it is ok to leave in a 20amp for a few weeks until I can bring my car to my mechanic. I've heard that with age the locking mechanisms can draw more power. The blown fuses occurred after I washed my car with a garden hose, I'm not sure if that's related. Thanks in advance for the advice.
