Okay, all this is from my '93 CSE-t, there may be differances in your car but some stuff will be the same. My factory head powers the front speakers, and I had a small factory amp under the passanger seat powering the rears. It had 2 plugs, one going to the speakers and one coming from the head. I broke into the cable from the head and found the preamp signal wires, and attached them to the amp. If you do not have an external amp than I do not think the Saab amp has line-out, you could use the amplified outputs either connected to your new amp's input (if it has high-in connections) or use a high-to-low converter (both will give you inferior sound compared to a proper line out, you will have to be the judge of if it's worth it to you, or if you want to get a new head unit).

My '93 is a hatchback, so I just ran the cables under the rear seats to the trunk. Once I get the whole setup finalized I'll put it under the carpet.

To get the power cable to the (+) terminal, you need to run it from the passanger compartment through the firewall to the engine compartment. I found a large rubber gromett behind the dash above the driver's pedals filling a hole about 2 inches in diameter, which led to directly behind the battery. I ran the power cable through there, then through the dash and under the passanger's footwell carpet and seat to the amp. Some say to run it under the door trim, I have not had any problems with engine whine where I ran it. It helps if you get a new head unit that has higher voltage pre-outs, which are less suscepitble to engine noise distortion (less gain turn-up need on the amp).
