for my 92 9KT, seems to start a little easier and Posted by bryan [Email] (#542) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bryan) on Sat, 28 Jul 2001 21:06:36 In Reply to: Somewhere in the range of 600 to 1,100 microns, 94 9000 CSE T, Sat, 28 Jul 2001 20:07:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
idle a little smoother with the gap a little closer, more in the .9 plus a smidge range vs. the unadjusted 1.1. Try just putting yours in without any adjustments, pay attention to how well it starts, how smooth it idles, etc. If it seems a touch rough sometimes, try closing it up a little.
The gap won't kill the DI so much as going too long between changes. NGK's are a good plug and the only thing that you should run in DI cars, but they don't have any fancy platinum electrodes or anything like that that make especially long lived. DI's are very sensitive to plug resistance, and over time that can change considerably regardless of the plugs appearance. Change every 10K and they'll pay for themselves in improved mileage and smoother running, and while there are no guarantees, it will maximize the life of your DI.
