for my motorcycle. I once left a parking lot in the wrong spot in a poorly lit area and drove off a curb. It cracked my lower cowling where the two halves screw together at the bottom. Replacement was several hundred $$$, so since it was broken already I thought I could get away with experimenting. If it failed I'd replace it.
Needless to say it held, very well.
I used a 5 minunte epoxy that I bought at a hardware store and it comes in two different tubes, the epoxy and a hardener. Just mix equal parts on a piece of cardboard, or something you can afford to throw away and apply with a stick or toothpick depending on the size of the crack. I usually bond together the two parts, let it dry, then put another bigger layer over the top. You should apply it to the back side more so in hopes it doesn't show to much from the front. It will dry to a gloss but could be painted over, I think, if it is to be used on the lower flat black air dam.
Epoxy is nice because it is very strong and pretty much untouchable from any solvents or weather, but is not flexible.
If you think your only option is to replace, give epoxy a try first. If it doesn't stick or hold, there are plenty of other things you can use it for. Just remember that it is very permanent and anything you get it one, it probably won't come off. I'm sure if you can remove the air dam it would make the job much easier.
Good luck!
Later,
Shahn
