My local friendly, family owned and operated tranny business installed a Saab certified 5 speed in my '87 9k this past Feb. Everything was fine until this past weekend when my wife complained that 2nd gear became very uncooperative - that is, you can shift into 2nd....but only after it grinds it's way in. All the other gears shift fine. The warranty from Saab covers the the tranny - but not the labor. I'd love to know who to contact to fight this one, the obvious place to begin, I realize, is with the dealership that my guy is getting the tranny from...but I somehow don't expect to win at that level. The whole point to going for the 'Saab certified' tranny in the first place was for peace of mind....now it looks like it's just another piece of my wallet (again). Any veterans out there who've fought this battle..??
