96 9k "check engine"

Hello... I've always found this message board to be helpful. Hopefully some of you 9k gurus can point me in the right direction..
I have a '96 9000cs Light turbo, 44k mi. Was cruising at about 60mph when the engine started to run rough. The check engine light flashed then came on solid. This only lasted a few seconds, then the engine smoothed out to normal but the check engine light stayed on. The car seems to run fine now except for that light. I've read several posts here on checking the engine codes by putting the ignition on position without starting and counting the flashes. However, my light doesn't flash. It just lights and stays on. Maybe this doesn't work on a '96 model? I'm having it checked by the local dealer, but would like to hear other opinions. I've spent plenty of time under the hood of classic 900s, but the 9K is new to me. Haven't even bought a service manual yet...
Also, I have wheels from a '91 900 with Blizzaks and was wondering if they will fit my 9K. Same bolt pattern and offset?
Thanks in advance for input..
Jim.
