Last night no heat was coming from the ACC, whatever. When I got home I checked the hoses running to the heater matrix - nice and hot. I trawled this bulletin board and diagnosed a broken plastic shaft and printed off Quasi's excellent picture of the area. In the morning I removed the 'aquarium' cover - looked in the right place and hey presto the arm - white plastic in my case - was broken. Fortunately the break (almost like a bone break) leant itself to an epoxy repair which is curing now!). In the long term I will order the haeter mixing flap repair kit p/n 74 96 433 and let people know what the UK price is for this little bit of metal.

Overall a sucess story - thanks to all contributors.
