However, I wouldn't try to find one from a junkyard, and they will all have many years on them, and in most cases, will need some work to get back to perfect condition. However, they can probably still be repaired by Clarion, but then you're up near the cost of a new unit when you throw in the used price plus repair.. Anyhow.
I've been very happy with my Blaupunkt, though it has given me some minor problems. I'd say the standard face Kenwoods (not MASK or D-MASK) ones are going to be a bit more reliable, as I expect would be Alpine or Eclipse.
You'll need to bypass the stock amp to use the built in power from an aftermarket deck. I'm not sure which year they made the switch from in the dash (as in my '87) to under the passenger seat, others will know more. Don't worry about losing the stock amp, it won't be as good as the power built into aftermarket decks.
