So if you are looking for the reliability of a Corolla, you will be dissapointed. Also when things need fixing, you can drop a couple of thou for some problems. 5spd seem to be more reliable than auto. The climate control is expensive to repair/replace.
My best advice is to take a prospective car to a good Saab mechanic for a thorough check up before buying. Well worth the $150 or so you will pay to check out all of the systems.
I'm on my 4th and 5th Saabs now, so you can guess how I feel about the car. Never had any major failures, and have run all from 115,000 to 185,000mi. Lots of 9ks go past 250,000mi.
If you like to do some of your own wrenching, it will significantly offset the maintenence cost. Maintenence is the key to getting your value out of these cars.
