in the compressor. If so, it is easy to replace, but tought to get exactly the right seal. I went to airpartsonline for the seal for my Sanden sd-709 that's in my '91. Seal kit was $15 or so, and the install tool was like $20. Wrong seal. Twice in a row.

Bottom line: I will get a ramanufactured unit for around $200 from a sponsor of this bb, install my old clutch assembly, and change the serpentine belt at the same time. If you need hoses, you might be able to get those at a good price from Sobstory.com,(about $150-$200?) but you will need a new receiver-dryer as well ($50).

The job is not tough technically, but takes some patience. Every place I have checked locally charges around $1k for this type of service, but there are not many saab shops round these parts.

If you are interested in doing this yourself, there is great information on this site. If not, the quote they gave you is not totally unreasonable.
