I just took a few minutes to pull the driver's front wheel and take a look at things. I don't have a torque wrench (yet) and can't borrow the one I usually use right now, so I didn't deal with my squishing suspension problem. (BTW, BillJ, thanks for the picture. Now I know what I need to work on when the time comes.)

Anyway, back to this problem. I've been getting an intermittent screech on left turns only from this side of the car. It is obviously metal on metal and varies in magnitude depending on how sharp the turn is and how fast the car's going. Occasionally, the screech is not present in a turn, but is replaced by a quick metal-on-metal clicking.

After reading some here, I figured that the sound must be caused by a bent dust cover scraping against the brake rotor. I noticed no apparent damage to the cover, but went ahead and pushed it away from the rotor with a screwdriver. During the test drive, the screech was less pronounced and less frequent, but still there. I'm not sure if I actually did anything, or if unloading and re-loading that wheel just changed something else (wheel bearing?).

Is there anything else I should check? I'm getting tired of having everybody in the lot look my direction when I'm trying to park somewhere :^)
