seems to be the common cure. Mine went through a brief period of erratic speed control until it just quit. Thumping on the housing would provoke a brief run cycle, then a stall. I took it apart today and the armateur in the motor is hash.
Removing the blower motor was hard work. Even after following QuasiMotor's advice at <http://quasimotors.gar.net/core.htm> I found several differences in procedure which could be due to differences in model years; mainly I didn't need to remove the heater hoses to get the fan out. You just have to cajole everything around until it finally rotates and pivots until it rises up and out. (Sorry, that's my best description! Your description may vary!)
I have not reinstalled the assembly, so it may require more removal than I originally did. Look to Townsend's site for diagnosing other problems.
