As mentioned already, the front engine mounting is the most likely suspect. I had this on my '96 Aero at about 135K miles and the clunk became less and less subtle. I changed the control arm bushes first. That helped the handling and steering no end but didn't fix the clunk.
On inspection (see link below for how to inspect), both engine mountings had failed. My clunk was a thump by this stage and the engine had dropped so far on the mountings that there was a visible kink in the exhaust flexible pipe (which was new). The pipe started to leak not long after I replaced the mountings.
I also found the rear bush in the upper engine torque arm had started to split with the strain. I replaced this too.
Failed engine mountings put a lot of strain on other parts of the car and it is as well to fix them as quickly as possible.
