We live in the mountains above Denver, at 8200 feet, and Saturday morning when I went out to get the newspaper I noticed quite a bit of snow on the ground and quite a bit still falling. I also noticed my wife's 93 CSE had all the windows open, as well as the sunroof. This wouldn't have been so bad if we had a garage, but such was not the case. ( I know, I know; what's a Saab owner doing leaving his baby exposed to the elements? The only way we could afford to build up here was to do it ourselves, and a garage just wasn't in our budget.)
The window buttons in the console were buried in a snow drift but I brushed off the snow, and they all worked! I had a hard time getting the sunroof to close all the way -- the heavy wet snow kept packing up in the tracks, and I had to back it up several times and dig it out with my fingers. I then got a bid soup ladle and began to shovel all the snow that I could out of the cockpit. I then got my trusty shop vac and began vacuuming the remaining snow and water. The vac kept plugging up with the heavy, wet snow, and I had to remove the hose several times and take it in and run hot water through it to unplug it.
I finally got all of the snow and water removed, and then took towels and dried the leather seats (fortunately, my wife had the back seats down to carry some cargo). I then started the car and let it run for an hour with full heat.
Everything seems to be fine now. Anyone else ever have a similar experience? I'm sure they have.
Since I have already made this such a long post, I will make it a little longer by relating more of my tales of woe: In early August I was driving to work in Denver one morning, when I heard on the radio that a tire warehouse was on fire; the address coincided with my destination. My company, and a million $ tire inventory burned completely to the ground.
Fortunately, we had 2 other small warehouses we were leasing which had about 5,000 tires in them, and another full trailer load that showed up the
morning of the fire, so we were able to quickly rent some temp office space and use our cell phones to get back in business. It took several weeks to get our phone system and computers back, and many long hours to get things put back together. But we did. This is the first time I've checked in on this bulletin board since then.
Sorry for such a long post with so much unrelated content.
