I wouldn't worry about the charcoal cannister. It really won't effect how the car runs.

Your O2 sensor could be the problem, but it typically manifests itself only when the engine is warm (it has to warm up to be in the computer loop.) Replacing it might be a good idea though, as it should pay for itself in fuel savings and could be hurt you warm engine oportation.

I still mightsuspect a vacuum leak. They're tricky buggers! Pull all the small hoses off the intake manifold one at a time and suck on them. You shouldn't be able to draw air on any of them. It doesn't hurt just to replace them all to prevent further problems, especially since hose is so cheap.

It also never hurst to clean the throttle body. Just pull the big air hose off where it enters the intake manifold and spay in some carb cleaner while using a tooth bursh. Manually open the throttle and clean all around. Then wipe out the goo with a rag. Don't be suprised when the car stubbles when you first try to start it after that.

You may have a problem with the AMM, which is an expensive piece, but it may also be causing your 2-3k stumbles. That could also be an unrelated ignition problem or something too.

The Townsend site has an excelent diagnosis for all this which I've linked below. It's a bit technical so feel free to post any questions. A bad idle is one of the hardest things to diagnose on these cars.
