They call it a drain for a reason. you don't just drain the fluid, you also drain the solids in the fluid. Do a cheaper experiment than ruining an engine. Mix something up in a fluid. Pepper in water maybe. In a clear glass. Watch it for a day. The solid will drift to the bottom,where the drain is. In the old days when we filled the jet fuel tanks at work, we would wait one hour per foot of tank for stuff to settle out to the bottom and then DRAIN the tank till it was clear to remove the crud. A pump is better than nothing if you can"t DRAIN the bottom. If the pump sucked out of the bottom it would be OK. But from the top? No Way!!!!
