antenna switch

There was a "Saab Tech Tip" a few years ago that I saved . People in colder climates have trouble with the antenna freezing in the up position with ice and then stripping the flexible nylon spine when it attempts to retract . If you remove the antenna cover in the trunk and cut the red wire and joining the 2 ends to a small toggle switch it is possible to lock the antenna either fully up or fully down .It might be a drag climbing into the trunk to flick the switch while on the freeway but you could extend the 2 cut ends of the red wire into the cockpit and install the switch there!
