The sunroof on my 93 9000cs would whistle after retracted from tilt up position. If I then opened it a bit in slide back mode and re-closed, it would seal up fine with no noise. I assumed that for whatever reason, it didn't close all the way from tilt up mode, even though it looked flush from the outside.
Today it started whistling all the time, no matter how I open or close it. I tried to fix my recirculate flapper yesterday because it was stuck in closed (no outside air) position. I couldn't fix that, but was able to manually push the door open to allow fresh air in. I'm wondering if this has in someway affected the airflow through the car and inside/outside pressure differential to allow the air leak in the sunroof. I guess that doesn't really matter because the sunroof shouldn't be whistling either way.
Also, when the door is slammed and windows and sunroof are shut, I noticed the sunroof jump up a little from the air pressure. It seems a little loose i.e., if you push up from the inside when closed, it does jiggle up and down a little, maybe an 1/8 inch or so. When it is tilted up or partially retracted, it's rock solid. It has always been this way since I bought the car and I didn't used to have the wind noise, so I'm not sure if that's related to the problem.
Can anybody provide suggestions on what's causing the whistling noise and how to stop it? Also, if it is related to the roof being loose, how do you tighten it up?
