88 9ks (I (non-turbo))LH 2.4 w/EKZ Leaving this morning, got 2 blocks and died. Been having troubles, Just replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator (was bad), and fuel pump(guessed). No help with stall problem. Car would not restart, cranked fine. Tach was moving. Cracked line to FPR with my trusty 17mm wrench while cranking and got fuel spray so I'm guessing the pump was working. Wiggled all the connections, folded down the rear seat to listen to the pump, and it started! Damn! If it would just break. Just replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires, did not help. (this has been going on for 2 weeks) The "tune up" helped with cold starts. The car has never been that great till it warms up. I checked the NTC temp sensor per the manual. The problem started right after I changed the o2 sensor for what i felt was low fuel milage. Has anyone had a O2 sensor cause the engine to die? So I get out on the highway, doing 65 to 70 and it dies. The Tack stayed working at 3000 Rpm so from looking at the wire manual that should rule out the ignition switch and anti knock computer. The check engine light did not come on. After about 20 seconds the motor came back to life. 20 miles down the road, same thing. This time I kicked it into neutral and the Tack went to 200 to 400 RPM for a bit and the motor died (zero RPM). Turned the key off and to start and it fired. then died. again and then it ran all the way home. Right now I'm leaning towards the ignition amp or coil, or a problem in the fuel or anti-knock computers(that doesn't light the light till dead, for no RPM signal). Soooo.... The $1000 dollar question...Anybody got any other ideas?
