The rad thermoswitch is a mechanical switch which wears out just for reliablility it wouldn't hurt to replace it on a 4 yr cycle or every other thermostat replacement. The stat is a wax pellet design which will fail in about 24-48 months on avg. I think. The sensor you replaced is a thermistor (thermal energy [thermal] effected resistor) which hardly fails, the best thing to do is unplug it and reattach it, you have just cleaned it's contact faces. There is lots-o-read available here on BB on this, do a search it'll save you $$. Too many times people just start throwing parts at a problem (including most dealers-all cars). Good Luck.
