Sounds like you could need a new "dashpot" which is a little hydraulic device that provides damping when the throttle is quickly released.
Basically if the throttle is allowed to return too quickly the fuel system "electronics" does not have time to adjust to the idle condition and can "over compensate" and then "hunt" for a while, finally stabilising.
The idea of the dashpot is to give a more controlled return to the idle position thus allowing the electronics to respond appropriately. Physically it is a small "canister-like" device with a shaft protruding which contacts the throttle lever. A new device when set up correctly should provide 3-5 seconds delay before you hear the throttle switch "click". You can set this up with the engine off. Plenty of additional information elsewhere on this BB.
I hope this helps and fixes your problem - it fixed my 1987 9000 SET.
Regards,
STEVE
