FR 12 performs like R-12, it is a blend of the so called "safe" Freon's, but does require a flush. R-134 is not as efficiant as R-12 but will do an acceptable job. Stay away from the propane/butane. The flammibility danger is worse than gasoline, remember gas doesn't burn, the vapors do. So do you want a pound or 2 of highly flamible vapor to be the first thing let out in a front end accedent? I do not and that is why it has been outlawed in many locations.
