and did it with the two stage VW part that's originally designed for the Vanagon. (Has a rear engine and poor air flow to start with). I cut the pigtail off just as another suggested and crimped on new connectors as he did. I need the high speed as Albuquerque gets a little hot in summer.
As far as removing the connector, a tiny bit of penetrating oil into the connnector will help. I used two pairs of pliers to *gently* wiggle the connector loose. On reassembly, I coated the outside of the male end with a little lithium grease. Its still hard to get that dang thing apart.
Only note: had to fiddle with the arrangement of the wires a little to get proper function as I forgot to ask the Vdub guy how to attach it
