It depends on which system you have, and what equipment you have available.
Check the Townsend site (http://www.townsendimports.com), specifically,
http://216.78.172.244/engine_folder/engine_systems_docs.htm
The file "Engine Control Variants" http://216.78.172.244/engine_folder/fivariants.htm
will help you pin down which version of LH you've got, and give a rough overview of the methods. Once you know which version you've got, you can look up the various 'pulling codes' links.
In general, the newer the car, the more extensive the codes. Unfortunately, sometimes reading the codes requires some pretty expensive equipment (ISAT or Tech II tools) available only at dealers and some shops. But in some cases you can read codes with a flashing light. All depends on the LH version.
Good luck!
