The saab's almost running - just a few questions left for the audience.
This morning I spent some time under the hood and compiled a short list of
what I don't yet understand. Any suggestions you can lend about what goes
where would be greatly appreciated.
(1) I figured out which wires connect to the transmission - I believe that
one was the reversing light switch - I marked them with a sharpie on
dissasembly and the symbol didn't rub off.
(2) I found the speedometer cable connected to the transmission, but I
don't know where it connects to the dashboard. (I can probably find this
in my Haynes)
(3) I found a cylindrical piece of plastic floating freely in front of the
distributor. Attached to it were three hoses coming from the side, a
signal cable (plastic connector) attached to the top, and a bracket for
screws on the back of the piece. On the top it says "SAAB 7517477" I
don't remember removing this and I'm wondering where it should screw down.
Is this a hooter valve for the turbo?
(4) The battery cables were obvious (red and blue) I'm wondering where
exactly they should attach,
Blue cable: grounded at transmission -> (-)battery coupling ->
ambiguous coupling, what should this be bolted to (starter?)
Red Cable: metal plate that attaches to the side of the bettery
tray -> (+)battery coupling -> a couple of ambiguous clamps -> another
ambiguous coupling (assume this attaches to the starter as well?)
(5) I'm confused about what attaches to the starter. I believe that two
wires should attach to the smaller cylinder on the starter, but I don't
know which wires should attach there - I assume at least one of the
battery wires should attach here (perhaps both?) and then some sort of
signal wire but I don't know where that signal wire is coming from.
Any suggestions you could make about this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for the help along the way.
