I just put a deposit on a dealer maintained 97 9000 cs 5sp, citrin/beige leather with 47,000 miles. Anything I should be aware of for recalls or potential problems?
Rare to find a customer that traded in a 9000 for the dealer to sell. I'm happy with the engine, ride and review of the service records (new battery, cat back factory exhaust (that surprised me, but great!) a replaced clutch master cyclinder, oil changed every 5,000 miles). It also looks like it has a new upper motor mount, but that was not mentioned in the service records. Brakes suck due to rotors rusting on the lot, but I figure $200 bucks for new discs and Repco's at Sobstory should resolve that; helped me drive the price down.
The only cosmetic problem is a worn rear leather seat cushion due to the female owner's german shepard's claws. Its not a big problem, but if I were to just replace the rear seat cushion, who would be the best source and what should I expect to pay? Also, I want to source the CSE wheels, which are 7.5 inches wide, they should fit with no problems, right? then the stock wheels will be surrounded by Blizzaks for rare winter use.
This is the second SAAB I purchased that was driven by a female; my 92 900S was owned by a female gynocologist. I bought that one in 1995 hoping to see as much as she did when she owned it, but I guess I was overly optimistic.....
Thanks in advance, and thanks to all who posted responses during my search for a 9000. Hats off to Scott Paterson for a great board!
