After talking w/ performance friction and consulting brake guides from autozone I found out that the brake pads from BMW 528e 82-88 or M3 88-91 will fit out cars with just a little bit of work.
These pads are not only cheaper than pads made for saabs but offer a larger contact area for more stopping power.
I bought a set of Perfrance Friction highway pads from autozone for $45 and they come with a lifetime guarantee. All that needs to be done is approximately 1 mm needs to be sanded off the top and bottom of the "hammers" on the brake backing. The brake hammers have a slight rise on both ends and these bumps need to be removed so the top and bottom are flat. It Took me about 15 minutes/ pad with a dremel checking frequently for fit to avoid taking of too much. They fit in fine and don't squel.
This opens up a lot of brake pad options that are available for BMW but not Saab and they tend to be cheaper.
