Well, just finished this job a little while ago and took a brief testdrive. Everything seems in order for now.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank BillJ for his wonderfully detailed instructions. This is the third procedure I've done with your help (steering column, motor mounts) and everything's gone just as expeceted.

I had no trouble at all taking the disc retaining bolts out; I guess I owe salt-free Washington State and the last guy who changed the brakes on this car for that. No seized bolts, no surprises other than the uneven wear issue, which is hopefully solved.

The brakes seem to work great already. Since I went for the MetalMasters and since this is still the break-in period, I was expecting the brakes to be a bit unresponsive. My experience was quite the contrary. I pumped the pedal many times to be sure that the brakes contacted the discs. I live on a busy street with downslopes and stoplights in either direction, so I had to make sure everything was fine. Rolled back and forth in the driveway a few times to build confidence and went for it. Braking response seems great, better than before. While it may not be more powerful, there is certainly more confidence imparted -- there is no "Where are the brakes?" feeling as before. I think the grooves on the Powerdiscs must help that initial bite (by heating the pads quicker), as I have heard that the MetalMasters can be slow when cold.
