You do have an alarm, and it is going out.
Perhaps the driver's side door key-switch is dying, in either case, bad things are happening.
(BTW: Look at the d-side dash-mounted speaker grille: is there a smooth bump of an LED sticking up near the back-right corner? That's the alarm indicator light. Frequently fail, so don't be surprised if you've never seen it blink.)
Easily defeated or repaired.
Repair: Buy a used alarm ECU from one of the sponsors of this fabulous site. If you want the best, get the alarm ECU from the late 92 and 93 9000's, it's the one that has a yellow case. Better engineering, harder to sneak around, and smarter about remembering your settings.
Defeat: Pull the plug from the alarm, and short the two largest-guage wires together with a ScotchLok connector. The alarm ECU is located under the rightmost dash vent, and is easily accessed from underneath by removing the under-dash liner. (Phillips head screw driver to unscrew the center-post of the plastic mushrooms that hold the panel on) With the description of the location in mind, you could actually find it with your eyes closed, but lying upside down under there is kind of traditional, and it is even easier to find by looking with a flashlight.
Pull it, short them, and drive on. Toss the ECU in the trash.
A replacement, however is cheap, and it might be worth about 10% off your insurance.
Hope this helps,
Ben
