Newer models have an amplifier under the front passenger seat, which must be taken out of the loop to get sound to your speakers, if you're trying to use the built in power of your new deck (advisable). If it's an older model like mine, the amp likely is in the EQ, or in the dash under the radio behind a blank panel/cubby hole. The one also needs to be taken out of the loop. As long as you are hooking the new head unit's speaker outputs up to the wires which connect directly to the speakers, and the unit powers up fine, though should be no trouble. One thing you can do to double check, is get a long speaker wire and temporarily connect it to one of the Sony's speaker outputs (all in turn if you're feeling adventurous) and then run it back to the trunk and touch or connect it to one of the rear woofers. This of course would assume you're don't have an enclosure on them.. If you get sound, the problem is that you connected to the wrong wires.
