Hey all.
I've been on and off of this board since '98, and it is just an amazing resource- all because of the helpfulness of the drivers on it, and that you all share the same passion about saabs that I do. Anyhow, I'm gonna eventually need some major work done on my car, and I got a quote from my indy mechanic in salt lake (including parts).
1) Timing cover gasket, oil cooler hoses rebuilt & installed (yea, I'm leaky), crankshaft pulley- parts & labor, $750.
2) Cylinder head (seeping)- $680. If I have #1 and #2 done together, I could expect to save about $120 on the total.
I just replaced the crankshaft pulled a couple years ago, but the oil leaking on it is eating the rubber pretty quickly. It's not making any noise yet, but it's moved about 1/16 of an inch. Hmmmmm...
I'd really appreciate any opinions that you would all like to share. I've been going to this guy for a while, and he's also a close friend of mine. They car drives great, and it lived in europe from '88 to '99 (a lot tougher on your car than the open highways here) but it leaves little spots on my garage floor from time to time. Sorry about the lengthy wording... hey drive hard!
Keep it real-
Nik
