Go to a salvage yard and pick up the controller circuit board from a late
model, low-mileage 9000 - they're all the same from '92 on. The board is
located inside a small rectangular cover that sits atop the evaporator
housing - you'll see wires running to it. You have to be careful taking
the board out - you'll need a long, skinny phillips head to remove one
of the retaining screws that's kind of hidden beneath the board. On the
board there's a high output transistor that's attached to a huge heat
sink. That's probably what's died and why you only get high speed on
your blower fan. Anyway, the other cheap alternative is to go to Radio
Shack and order the transistor (either Quasi's site or one or Ari's post
will list it) and get the soldering gun out. If you bring it to a Saab
dealer, expect the worst, wallet-wise!
