My older brother has a '96 9000 with 4 wheel discs. It needs front and rear pads, and rear rotors (getting metal-to-metal contact in the rear). All the parts are on order, but I don't have any procedure, so I'm not sure exactly what I'm getting into. A few questions based on what I've seen so far:

(1) Is there a Haynes Manual for the 9000? My local Autozone says NO, but I wasn't sure if that meant they didn't carry them, or if that meant it just didn't exist. If there is NOT a Haynes Manual, is there a good website to check out for how-to instructions?

(2) The rear calipers are held in place by two allen-head bolts. What size are they? Poking my head under the car to sneak a look they appeared to be about 8mm, but it would be nice to know for sure before I go buying the wrong size socket attachment.

(3) From my brief look at the rear, I saw that the pads are held in by some sort of spring clips - how do those come off?

(4) Since the parking brake appears to be integral with the caliper, I'm assuming the rear pistons have to be threaded back into the caliper with some sort of tool. Is that correct? I have an 8-sided socket attachment from Autozone that has different piston adapters on each face - does the Saab piston take some sort of funky adapter, or will my Autozone special probably be good to go?

Any comments/suggestions/advice would be much appreciated. My questions may not inspire much confidence in my abilities, but I do know what I'm doing (usually) - I've just never played with a Saab before.

Thanks for the help,
Pat Olsen
