Hi,
I have been using Shell Optimax for maybe 10 tanks full now, and have nothing but praise for the fuel. I have not changed my driving style, and yet the car is still returning 33 to 37 mp imp gallon, and is significantly smoother and quicker throughout the rev range. However, the extra RON of the fuel is reducing det, and allowing extra boost, to the point where it is boosting off the scale in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. I get the initially whoosh of boost off teh guage, the boost backs off momentarily (foot still to the floor), and the boost then comes back like a train off the guage until I change. Only thing is, I am hitting boost cut (violent cut in boost) in 5th if I keep my foot down. It sounds as if the trionic has not sorted itself out fully yet. Do I need to recalibrate, or do I need a new BPC valve, or howabout one of thos Abbott valves. I really don't like the surge then back off, then surge again sensations - I drove an Impreza WRX before this, and although it also suffered from boost cut (had a restrictor fitted on that), it never did this surging thing. BillJ - are those calibration runs of yours going to make any difference?
Ta,
