The 9000 is great, and the Aero is pretty nice - extra speed, nice seats.
The automatic in the 9000 is a weak spot. I don't know about the pump being an issue - I've mostly seen clutch pack failures. But do yourself a favor, and replace the tranny fluid every 15-20K miles. If you don't know the last time it was changed, change it NOW. If you start to feel any problems in the transmission, get it looked at. There are a few minor, inexpensive problems that can be fixed early (accumulator valve springs, govenor seals, etc) that if left to fester can turn a $100 repair into a $2500 rebuild. But if the tranny is shifing smoothly, great!
Coolant and brake fluid should be flushed every 2 years, three tops. Again, if you don't know when the last time they were changed, change them now. Replace the thermostat at the same time, and use a Saab thermostat. Yes, it's a couple of bucks more, but doing the job again costs even more.
ALWAYS use the EXACT spark plugs specified - probably NGKs, and always check the gap before you put them in. The Direct Ignition system in the car is great, but it's very sensitive to spark plug type. Just because the guy behind the counter says his book says the SpitFire Mark V is OK for Saab, don't do it. Buy exactly what the manual specifies.
Otherwise, buy good gas, and watch out for cops as you blow by.
