On 9000CS models, the dipped beam filaments will be supplied @ reduced strength when full beam is on. Current is then supplied from term 56a of lighting relay 8 to the coil of relay 78, which operates and supplies dipped beam filaments 12 from fuse 11 via resistor 80, filament monitor 228B and fuses 1 and 2.
The resistor is mounted in front of battery, on L wheel well. There is a bracket bridge over the high wattage, round, wire wound power resistor. This is done on the CS family just to give a base glow for observability. Or maybe some designer just wanted them to glow during high beam operation.
Relay is square relay on the outer side in front of the large orange hi/lo switching relay stuck in the relay/fuse box front from batt. If you don't want that just pull relay as it is dedicated to that function. Would reduce electrical generation requirements by a couple of amps and end up boosting you gas mileage .05% (S.W.A.G. only no data to support)
