Try to get any prior service records for thr car. check the engine mounts, you can see the upper mount at the back of the engine. try to rock the engine fore and aft, it should have very little movement. How much milage? If its an auto, they become weak about 120000 miles. Check the turbo boost, it should go into the red zone on hard acceleration. Look under the car at the rubber covers on the cv joints just inboard of the front wheels. they should be intact with no grease leaking out. Listen to the engine idle, there should be very little noise, if you hear something sounding like rattling tin cans around the left side of the engine, the timing chain may be worn. Make sure the TCS control light is out when you drive it. also the check engine light. I'm sure others will add more. Good luck, it's a great car.
