On my '97 Aero I understand that the "chirper" is not the horn, but a different thing. When I replaced the air filter with a open cone system, I noticed that the sound from my alarm "chirp" came from a horn like thing way up (above and behind the air filter snorkel system) inside my left front fender behind . So I guess you could just take out the filter system (just three bolts and a bunch of clips, pretty easy stuff) and then unplug the "chirper." I would assume that everything would work fine but without the annoying "chirp," but I have not tried that so I really don't know for sure, just a quick thought.
