Just installed a remote Engine Start / Keyless Entry

Just finished installing a remote engine start with keyless entry on my wife's '89 9000CD. It was a lot of work, but it works as good as a factory unit. The unit is Avital Model 3200 which I picked up at Best Buy. It is on the expensive side ($200), but if you are going to spend the time to put in a unit, I would reccomend getting a decent one. There are a lot of them out there for about $99 with limited functionality which might do the job, but I wanted the extra features. I have it control the four doors, trunk, remote engine start, panic warning and automatically switch the heating system from AUTO to ECONO when started remotely. The range of the remote is approximately 200ft. There is also another channel that I have not hooked up yet. I have not decided what I will use it for as of yet.
The unit is very flexible and can be programmed for different functionality.
BTW, the $200 includes installation, but I did not want to deal with someone who probably knows little about Saab's and would probably do a subpar job. There are extra's that need to be added like the motor to control the drivers side door lock, controlling the ECONO on the ACC etc. I suspect they would not have a clue on how to do that.
If you were thinking of putting one in I would reccomend this one. Has a one year guarantee.
