I put in Bilstien shocks from shox.com and also added spring lifters from local auto store- these are 4" bolts with special brackets to hold against spring as you turn the nut along this bolt it expands your springs, thus compensating for the soft cd springs- otherwise you need to get non-cd springs when replacing Nivomat self-leveling shocks. The spring lifters were $5.00 per kit per side. My car is pretty firm in the back now which makes excellent handling but a bit harsher than in the old days. It can be a real bear getting old shock bottom bolt to free- I had to cut mine and buy to new bushings for $8.00 each because they turned with the old rusty bolts and ripped. Good luck- it will be worth it but not always easy.
