I own both. Get the 900, buy the latest year and lowest mileage / best condition. They are a more mechanical oriented than the 9000. You can do a clutch in a 900, buts its a lot harder on a 9000. 92 and 93 were the last two years, and they sorted out all of the problems by then. Board advertisers will supply most parts for way less than a dealer and the board can talk you through anything. There is a Bently for the 900, but not for the 9000, which could be a disadvantage on the more sophiosticaed electronics of the 9000.
See a back issue of european car magazine, a writer told of how he bought a 900 as his short haul city car.
Good luck, any questions, just log in!
