I had a '83 900 rebuilt that had been hit in the side. The car was straightened by a reputable shop and cosmetically looked perfect. But when I hit ice, snow, or even rain, the car was really hard to control. Something was not correctly aligned, and I dumped the car. My experienc, and that of others who have bought rebuilt wrecks is that lots of quirks can develop long after you get the car fixed.
I would only rebuild if you could do so for less than $4k. Otherwise keep the car, and use for parts, or sell to a rebuilder so they can use. Maybe you can find a deal on a good body with a bad engine. I know of a rebuilder in Grand Rapids Mich who should be willing to pay more than $775. The car should have a lot of value since the front has not been hit.
Keeping as a parts car is a great idea too, if you have the place.
