Quite a few folks have stuck bleed valves (controlled leaks) in the line between the APC solenoid and the wastegate. I have even heard of folks running a line to the cockpit so they could control the bleed amount - basically, 'dial in' your boost.

The downside is engine/drivetrain life. More boost is more power, heat, and stress. Now, maximum boost was set to give a nice, long, lifetime to the engine and drivetrain. Increasing it a little should have little effect, but how much translates into Engine Boom! is an open question.

You are bypassing some of the knock protection, so you'd best run the best grade fuel you can find (highest octane).

Increase the boost enough, and you'll hit the fuel cutoff switch. This is VERY noticeable. To get more boost, either adjust the switch up, or wire it out. I don't recommend either - that's a lot of boost there.

If your engine is in good shape, timing is smack on, the transmission sound, you're running high octane fuel, then a little more boost won't hurt. If the engine is tired, your tranny is weak or an automatic, the cooling system marginal, you don't want to run 93 octane, then don't even think about it.
