HELP! snow cables/spider spikes

The other night i decided to test fit my cables to my 95 9k aero and found that is no way make it happen with 205/55/16 mounted. The clearance btw the wheel well molding and the tire is so tight that I can't even getwrist btw them to hook the cables on the back sidee of the tire.
My options seem to be get 15" wheels w/195/65/15 snow tires and cables or try these new Spider spike devices. Being originally from New England (now in CA)I've been a firm believer in 4 snow tires but hate mounting chains/cables. Anyone who has spent time on the side of the road for more than 30 sec. getting sprayed with slush and freezing the butt off knows what I'm talking about.
So ... questions. Has anyone tried these Spider Spikes and what do you think of them? Do you get more clearance btw tire and wheel well if you use 195/65/15 tires on an aero?
Thanks,
Bill
