Help! Idle stumbling stalling

A day ago the car my '91 9K CDT (151K miles) began having trouble keeping the idle at around 1000 rpm when I pull up to a stop sign or other scenarios where I let up on the gas and the rpm drops to idle (right foot on brake, road speed approaching zero).
Most times the idle stumbles down to 600 -800 rpm and then recovers, but sometimes it stalls completely. The car restarts and accelerates fine. Superficially all vacuum connections seem fine.
Could it be damaged plugs? Although the plugs are only a few months old, I have been running 93 octane and have had plugs go bad quickly when I use 93 octane.
Thanks
