I have a 9000 CD Turbo 150,000 miles. 1991 - Auto Tranny

All of this week my car was acting very weird. It felt as it the front left tire was vibrating violently when I pulled away from a stop light or from a 0mph position, but after 2nd gear or so it would smooth out. I thought that perhaps this was a roter or something, but then today when I hit a stop light I could not pull away in any gear. The only thing that would work was reverse... This is a SAAB Auto Tranny. I currently have it at a gas staion. I need some help so the shop does not rip me off. Does it sound like the tranny went? Sound like something else? Please help me here. If it is the Auto Tranny how much could it cost including labor?? I am a college student and if anyone can help please post. I really need you guys. help me out.
