how do I remove ventilation fan motor?

I have an '89 9000 cd turbo, and the vent fan stopped working. when I checked it I wiggled a wire and it worked a little bit. I want to take the thing appart to fix the wire but it seems impossible from the top. Do I have to crawl underneath the car and try to get at it from there?
