Avid readers will know I have been having annoying fuel injection issues. I have this 2000 RPM stumble that is being very difficult to isolate. It's even got my indie stumped (though he is very impressed by my tenacious search for the problem). I am pondering the purcahse of an ECU (ouch!), but that is another long post altogether.
Anyway, I was perusing Quasi's site and saw his test for the ELCD charcoal cannister system, and according to his diagnostic my purge valve isn't working. I had checked the valve for power and the line for vacumn, but hadn't checked to see if the valve actually worked. New one is ~$70 plus S&H.
SO, I disconnected the line at the intake and put a cap on the vacumn port. It's running somewhat better, still stumbles, but not as bad and starts better.
Question: am I causing any damage by taking the system out of the loop or merely hastening the whole global warming thing?
TIA
ETS
