the clutch "comes back up" because of three things:
(1) a spring attached to the clutch pedal (I think)
(2) a spring inside the master cylinder
(3) hydraulic fluid pressure from the slave cylinder and the pressure plate (inside the transmission)
(1) - I doubt this is the source of your trouble
(2) - if this spring has broken it has most likely scored (scratched) the inside of the master cylinder and the cylinder needs to be replaced (aftermarket should be <$150) they're easy to replace if you have a free afternoon and a haynes manual, though bleeding the hydraulic system afterward can be a pain.
look under the car. If you see a wet spot underneath the transmission bell housing (where the engine and transmission come together) then your slave cylinder may be leaking - as you had this replaced recently I doubt this is the problem.
The brakes and clutch share a hydraulic fluid reservoir - it should be near the battery on your car and is probably made out of yellow plastic.
